Four members of IUE-CWA Local 86782 were nominated Thursday by their fellow members to be delegates to the 2009 IUE-CWA and CWA International Conventions starting on June 20.
IUE-CWA Applauds Confirmation Of Solis As Labor Secretary
The IUE-CWA and Communications Workers of America applauds the Senate for confirming former House Representative Hilda Solis (D-Calif., 32nd district) as the new Administration’s Labor Secretary. “Secretary Solis has long been an effective voice for workers’ rights,” said CWA President Larry Cohen.
2009-2012 Labor Agreement Ratified

The 2009-2012 Labor Agreement (contract) between IUE-CWA Local 86782 and Trane, a subsideriary of Ingersoll Rand, has been RATIFIED. The contract having passed, all shifts should report to work as normal.

Appeal Still Pending On Extended Benefits For Members On Layoff

IUE-CWA Local 86782’s appeal related to extended benefits for members who are currently on layoff remains pending before the U.S. Department of Labor. Lately, a number of members on layoff have contacted the Local to inquire about extended education and other benefits related to our claim for Trade Adjustment Assistance from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Nigerian Oil Workers Call Off Strike

Union oil workers in Nigeria have called off a proposed strike after two days of talks between the government and union leaders after the government agreed to create a joint panel to discuss the worker’s complaints about violence in the Niger Delta.
